Bungee Jump

Bungy Jumping is one of the safest yet most scary adventure sports. Bungy jumping is a relatively new phenomenon in Nepal adventure; however, it’s one of fastest growing adventure option for natives & foreigners alike. Bugny jumps in Nepal were begun by the bungee masters from New Zealand, Europe & Australia. The same masters introduced the Swiss Bungee technology in Nepal & built the station for public at The Last Resort on Nepal-Tibet border in 1999. The location of the site is famous for both its proximity & remoteness. A four hours drive from Kathmandu on a single lane road built by Chinese along the Bhote Koshi River takes you to Nepal’s northern border with China. There, just 12 km short of the Friendship Bridge at the border, you arrive at the Swiss made platform bridge for the jump at an altitude from 160 meter into the gurgling Bhote Kosi River below.

Bungy jump is not a dangerous sport; even an 11-year girl has already made her feat. Similarly, thousands of foreigners & natives have been literally flocking to the Resort since it was established. To those who are feeling giddy even at the mentioning of bungee sports, the news of seven member of Nepal Blind Association making their record certainly calms all fears. Still, being an extreme sport you must be otherwise healthy & fit before you take a jump.

A combination of the scenic mountain biking to The Last Resort, a bungee jump, and then rafting in the Bhote Kosi River provides an excellent & memorable opportunity for those wishing to take full dose of adventure thrills within a very short period of time. In fact, the whole tour including all the biking, rafting, canyoning, & bungee activities can be even completed within 3-days. You can even take the bungee jump & come back the same day.

Most of the jumpers wonder at the provocation of their own animalistic sense of danger, threat, & urgency for safety in the middle of the jump, despite securing a 100% possible safety before the jumps.

Location:It is located within a reach of 3 hours outside Kathmandu and just 12 km away from the Tibet Border. You will travel the Arniko (Kathmandu/Lhasa) Highway to within 12km of the Tibet Border and the famous Friendship Bridge.

The Gorge Bungee Jump Nepal takes place on a 166m wide steel suspension bridge over the Bhoti Kosi River. The Bridge Swiss designed, specially for bungee jumping with a 4x safety factor. The bridge has a loading factor of 250kg per running meter. This means that the bridge will hold 250 x 166 = 41,500kg or 4.5 tonnes. And... those are Swiss measurements! Over 6000 meters of steel wire was used to build the bridge Longest suspension bridge in Nepal. The bridge joins two sides of a great valley. Before its construction, locals walked five hours to cross this river gorge.

The Bungee Bridge happens to be the only privately owned bridge in Nepal. The Bhote Kosi appeared a mere stream! One would have to be totally insane or suicidal twisted to jump off the remarkable 500-ft (160 m) drop into the Bhote Kosi River gorge. One of Nepal’s wildest rivers raging below; close your eyes and JUMP!!

It is advised to empty the pockets and not take any intoxicants before the jump. Everyone is weighed before the fall is made, to use different cords for different categories of weights. The Green, Red and Black cords are used for the lightest, the heavier and the heavyweights accordingly. Adrenaline begins to rush as you jump.
