On trek in Nepal, is there enough drinking water available?

On camping treks we provide safe boiled water for drinking 3 times a day.

On lodge based treks we advise against buying mineral water in plastic bottles. You can buy boiled water which is safe to drink or you can ask your leader for cold water which you then must treat with chlorine dioxide. On the Annapurna Circuit trek there are safe drinking water stations in many villages. In the Everest region a couple of lodges have UV treated water for sale.

What distance do we walk each day?

When walking in the mountains, the distance you cover each day can vary greatly due to gradient, terrain and altitude. As such it is very hard to give specific distances on each day.

For example, you might walk 7 miles one day and it takes 5 hours. The next day the trail might be very steep , rocky and gain substantial altitude and such factors mean you cover just 2 miles in 5 hours!

In the Himalaya, even the local people only ever talk about distances in the mountains in terms of how long it will take, i.e. 5 hours walk. On most trekking trips, you will walk for 3-4 hours in the morning and another couple after lunch.

Is it safe to travel to Nepal?

It is generally safe to travel to Nepal. Nepal is a developing country with extensive tourist facilities, which vary widely in quality and price.  Nepal ended a ten-year Maoist insurgency in November 2006 and established an interim government in January 2007. Constituent Assembly elections held in April 2008 formed a Constituent Assembly to serve as a parliamentary body and to draft a new constitution by May 2010.There may some strikes but they are loyal to tourist so it is not a serious concern now.

If you require more information about this you can visit British Foreign and commonwealth office website The US has recently lifted travel caution about Nepal. More information can be found on

It is advise not to go in Dance Bar/ Dohori Restaurant ( Live folk song show ). We have many complaints from our guest about charging them too much and sometime they have violence as well.

Can I only hire guide or porter?

Yes, you can only hire guide or porter  as your requirement. Some organized camping trekking in remote area will not be possible without a package but if you are planning to do a tea house trek it will be possible to do the trek on your own. We will be happy to advice you and help you to assist you with any information if you require.

Can I book a hotel only?

Yes, we can make  reservation of any hotels in major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan. It is possible to book hotels in some trekking route as well but usually they operate first come first serve policy. Accomodations in tea house in trekking route to Everest and Annapurna remains busy during busy season. You can contact us if you require further information, we can suggest you the top rated hotels according to location, costing and service. Usually it is cheaper to book through us then approaching them directly.

Can What are the effects of going so high?

To minimize effects of altitude you ascend slowly which allows safe acclimatisation.  Mild headaches and breathlessness are common at altitude.  In rare cases this may worsen, so a close watch is kept on all trekkers by the Group Leader who is trained to recognize Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).  If trekkers shows any signs of AMS they will be evacuated to a lower, safe altitude immediately.  The Group Leader’s decision on removal to a safe altitude is final.  As long as trekkers keeps body fluids maintained, with an adequate fluid intake of four or five litres per day, and ascend according to the itinerary, there shouldn’t be any problems.
