Island peak climbing

Island Peak is one of the famous trekking peak in Nepal . This is lies on the khumbu (Everest region). This peak was summit by British group in 1953. This is not a technical peak so everyone summit without special training and course .

Summit is one of the best opportunity to see the superb view of the Khumbu region. Specially view of the Makalu , Nuptse , Lhotse sar glacier and lot of snow capped mountains lure your eyes on the summit of the peak.

Trek and climbing itinerary

Day 01: Fly to Lukla (35 minutes) trek to Phakding (2610m) on lodge,(2-3 hours)

Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazzar (3540m) on Lodge (5-6 hours)

Day 03: Acclimatization day at Namche , free day side trip

Day 04: Trek to Dole (4200m) on Lodge (5-6 hours)

Day 05: Trek to Machhermo (4440m) on Lodge (4-5 hours)

Day 06: Trek to Gokyo (4790m) on Lodge (4-5 hours)

Day 08: Early Morning walk up to Gokyo Ri (5360m) for Panoramic Mountain view (Where  we can explore 4 of Highest Mountain on the world and all Khumbu Himalayan range , back to Gokyo then lunch & trek to Dragnak Kharka (4700m) on Lodge(5-7 hours)

Day 09:  That day  to cross  Chola Pass (5330m) no need any climbing gear and non- technical ) and over night Dzonglha (4830m) on Lodge (7-8 hours)

Day 10: Trek to Labuche base camp

Day 11: Labuche high camp Day 12: summit and back to base camp

Day 13: Extra day Day 14: Trek to Gorakshep (5180m) after lunch trek to Everest base camp and back to Gorakshep on Lodge (6-7 hours)

Day 15: After breakfast climb up to Kalapather (5545m highest point of trek) for Everest view, back to Gorakshep, after lunch trek back to Labuche on Lodge(6-7 hours)

Day 16 : Start early morning trek of Khongmala pass and trek to Chhukung on lodge.

Day 17: Chukung – Island Peak Base camp 5000m on Camp.

Day 18: Island peak high camp 5350m on Camp Day 19: High Camp – Summit 6160m. & Back to Base Camp on tent

Day 20: Extra day for bad weather or case…over night at base camp on tent.

Day 21: Trek back to Tyanboche 3800m. 5-6 hours on Lodge.

Day 22: Trek to Namche Bazaar 4-5 hours on Lodge.

Day 23: Trek to Phakding 3-4 hours on Lodge.

Day 24: Trek to Lukla 3-4 hours on Lodge.

Day 25: Fly Lukla to Kathmandu.

Day 26: Rest day in kathmandu , evening farewell dinner in Nepali restaurant with Nepalese cultural program.

Day 27: Fly out to your own destination or extra activities (visit Pokhara , chitwan & Lumbini are recommended).

Upper Body:

  1. One T-shirt Icebreaker Merino 150 or lightweight 200.
  2. Two long Icebreaker Merino 150 or lightweight 200 shirts.
  3. One polar fleece pullovers, medium weight.
  4. One polar fleece jacket.
  5. One Gore-Tex waterproof and breathable jacket with large hood to accommodate climbing helmet.
  6. Lightweight down jacket for chilly days in base camp or warm layer when stopping for short breaks.
  7. One very warm goose-down (duvet) jacket with hood or a down/duvet suit if you prefer, for high altitude use.


  1. One pair lightweight poly-liner gloves.
  2. One pair mittens, consists of 1 Goretex over mitt matched with the very warm polar fleece mitt liner


  1. Warm hat wool or synthetic that covers your ears
  2. Balaclava
  3. Scarf or neck sleeve
  4. Face mask
  5. Ball cap or brimmed sun cap
  6. Glacier Sunglass with side shields

Lower Body:

  1. One pair walking shorts for trekking
  2. Two pair Icebreaker Merino 150 or lightweight 200 thermal bottoms
  3. One pair Icebreaker Merino 200 weight thermal bottoms
  4. One pair polar fleece trousers
  5. One pair Gore-Tex trousers or bibs. Waterproof/breathable with full side zips
  6. One pair of Goose-down (duvet) trousers or bibs. You may prefer a down (duvet)


  1. One pair One-Sport Millet climbing Overboots or equivalent (with Aveolite liners; good quality plastic shells with inner boots; avoid tight fit with heavy socks.)
  2. One pair sturdy leather or synthetic (Gortex) hiking boots with good ankle support for the walk to advanced base camp
  3. Two Pair of liner socks. Polypropylene or wool
  4. Two pair lightweight trekking socks, poly or wool
  5. Light Icebreaker Merino wool or cotton socks for in town.
  6. Rucksacks and Travel Bags:
  7. One medium rucksack (50-70 litters / 3000-4500 cubic inches, can be used for airplane carry).
  8. One large (120 L / 7500 cubic inch) duffle kit bags for clothing and equipment. Must be durable for use on pack porter.

Sleeping Gear:

  1. For high altitude, one down (duvet) sleeping bag (rated to –25 C (-30 F). For the high camp, you can sleep in your down (duvet) clothing inside your sleeping bag;
