Ganjala pass Trek

A traveler in Katmandu valley may find the majestic views of snow covered mountains of Ganesh Himal if he/she turns to the north horizon in a clear day. Separating the Ganesh Himal from the Langtang, Jugal and Rolwaling Himal is the Trisuli valley. This actually stretches from the north to south winding through the middle hills. But to the eye we see these mighty Himalayan Mountains as a wonderful creation of snow peaks.

The Langtang National Park was established in 1976 and is Nepal’s second largest national park. It is also famous for countless wildlife.  The nearly extinct but now remarkably categorized as 'existing' Red Panda can sometimes beobserved.  You'll discover a good collection of birds while trekking in this region too. The spring season brings a mass of bright colours created mostly by the extravagant display of rhododendron flowers.

The Langtang area is easily accessible from the Kathmandu valley, passing first through the foothills then the ridges and forests of the Helambu region. Unlike Langtang,  Helambu does not boast lofty peaks, but it does provide technically easy access to summits that can be seen glistening in the sun. You can deepen yourself by some meditation in the caves and shelters as the local dwellers had built them for religious purpose for Buddhist Lamas.

To the southwest of Langtang, and northwest of Helambu, lies the Gosainkund Lake and within its ridges and folds lay several small lakes.  The biggest of these is Gosainkunda Lake, the site of a major Hindu festival held in July – August, at the time of the full moon. Thousands of pilgrims trek this route to take bath in these holy waters during the festival time.

There is a good trail from Sundarijal,  just a few kilometers from the eastern side of the Boudhanath Monastery in the Kathmandu valley.  All the way through the Helambu region,  over the Laurebinayak Pass  to Gosainkunda Lake and into Langtang.    A fine and demanding expedition for the fit and hardened mountain trekker.

Pristine Mountain provides a variety of treks that allow you to explore the beauty of these areas through one of several different separate itineraries.  Langtang region provides plenty of adequate,  comfortable lodges and teahouses for the sustenance of the mountain travelers.
